
Highest Peak of Mt Longonot
Mt Longonot is an Extinct Volcanic Mountain in the floor of the Great Rift Valley located one and half hour drive away from Nairobi City. One unique feature about the mountain is its thick forest that lies inside its crater. Hikers are awarded with beautiful views from various points within the crater rims. Lake Naivasha is visible from the top. During the hike you may be lucky to spot these animals; Buffalos, Gazelles, Impala and giraffe. The Mountain has 2 major peaks with the highest, Kilele Ngamia Peak rising to 2776 M above sea level. It takes an hour and half to hike to the crater rim from the gate and another 3 to 4 hours to go round the crater rim. A total of 5 to 6 hours for an average hiker and less for seasoned and quick hikers.
