About Our 2 Days Amboseli Safari from Nairobi

It’s a short 4-hour drive from the big city lights of Nairobi to the big country sites of Amboseli National Park – think mighty Mt. Kilimanjaro and majestic herds of elephants. This park lies at the foot of Africa’s tallest mountain and the largest free-standing mountain in the world. Its famous form watches over the park and all its wildlife – four of the “Big Five” are found here. So, join us on safari to Kenya’s second most popular park with this quick, easy 2-day adventure.

There’s plenty of reasons Amboseli is such a popular park – we’ve already mentioned the photographic presence of Kilimanjaro, but did you know that this park may be the best place in Africa, if not the world for viewing free-ranging elephants? The light terrain of the park combined with the great numbers of elephants here guarantees you will see them as they parade in their imposing herds.

But just as impressive are the park’s other big game like buffalo, lion, cheetah, zebra and gazelle. Amboseli is a busy place and you’ll be checking off plenty of wildlife on your list. The park offers several wildlife environments, each with its own array of animals. If you’ve got favorites or any personal requests, just let us know and Natural World Kenya Safaris will create a personalized itinerary just for you.

Your 2-day Amboseli Safari from Nairobi includes park entrance fees, game drives, accommodations, and meals.

You can choose accommodation depending on your budget. From budget camps to luxury safari lodges and we will be happy to give a quotation for any and to take you there.

Day 1
Nairob/Mombasa - Amboseli

We will pick you up from your Nairobi Hotel, residence or the Nairobi airport in the morning.

We’ll head out in your private 4 x 4 Jeep/van, on the Nairobi-Mombasa Highway. This is a relaxing drive through African savannah country, with local homesteads punctuating the vast plain. Watch for Maasai herdsmen, draped in their colorful wraps as they tend to their flocks.

We should arrive in Amboseli National Park in the late morning. Entering the park, you can’t miss the wall of the mountain to the south – this is legendary Mt. Kilimanjaro, known as the “roof of Africa”, rising to 19,000 feet. It’s the continent’s tallest peak and the highest free-standing mountain in the world.

This is the backdrop to much of the park’s wildlife and always a gift to photographers, so have your camera ready for the next 3 days!

We’ll enjoy lunch at your accommodation and then head out for an afternoon game drive. Amboseli is known for its relative ease in wildlife spotting. All of Africa’s Big Five are here as well as zebra, giraffe, cheetah, warthog, ostrich and many more. Except for the Rhino.

Toward evening, the cloud cover obscuring Kilimanjaro’s snow-capped summit may clear, giving us one of Africa’s most striking vistas.

We return to our camp or lodge for dinner and overnight.
Meals: Lunch, Dinner, and Drinking Water

Day 2
Amboseli - Nairobi

Our final day in the park and we want to squeeze in all the game viewing we can. We’ll start on a pre-breakfast safari and see who we can check off our list. Don’t forget to look for the smaller animals here like hyenas, foxes, jackals and monkeys.

There’s also a colorful variety of rich birdlife in the park – pelican, kingfisher, egret and heron are found near the park’s marshes and lakes.

We’ll enjoy one more Amboseli breakfast, with views of great Kilimanjaro and then a final game drive as we exit the reserve.

Meals: Breakfast and drinking water
