Samburu National Reserve
Samburu National Reserve is a hidden gem in Kenya, located in the arid north of the country. The reserve is home to a wide variety of wildlife, including the Big Five (lions, leopards, elephants, and buffaloes), as well as the “Samburu Special Five” (Grevy’s zebras, Somali ostriches, reticulated giraffes, gerenuks, and beisa oryxes).

Day 1Nairobi - Samburu
Our driver guide shall pick you up at your hotel or Airport by 7:00 AM for briefing and embark on game drive to Samburu National Reserve. We shall follow the scenic Nairobi - Nanyuki - Isiolo - Samburu highway that cuts across the central islands and slopes of Mt Kenya. We shall have brief stop at Equator near Nanyuki. Scenic views of Mt Kenya and coffee plantations will spice our journey. Arrive at Buffalo Springs National Reserve by noon enter and proceed to our lodge with game drives en route Animals to watch out for include impalas, warthogs, buffallos, elands lions and more. This region is known for Beisa Oryx, Gerenuk, Reticulated Giraffe, Gravy Zebra and Somali Ostrich; otherwise known as the special five. These are unique species of wild animals unique to this area and other parks North of Equator. After lunch we relax and embark on another game drive from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight later in the evening Meal Plan: Lunch and Dinner

Day 2Samburu
You will start the day with an early morning game drive, taking advantage of the cooler temperatures when animals are most active. This is the best time to spot predators such as lions, cheetahs, and leopards as they hunt before retreating to the shade. After the game drive, you will return to the lodge for breakfast and some leisure time.
Later in the day, you may opt for a visit to a local Samburu village to learn about the culture and traditions of the Samburu people. The midday is also a great time to relax at your lodge or by the pool, enjoying the breathtaking views of the surrounding landscapes.
In the afternoon, you will embark on another game drive, exploring different areas of the reserve. The beautiful, rugged scenery, combined with the diverse wildlife, makes every drive unique and thrilling. You may also visit scenic spots along the Ewaso Nyiro River, where you can observe large herds of elephants coming to drink and cool off. As the day winds down, you will return to your lodge for dinner and another overnight stay.

Day 3Back to Nairobi
On your final morning in Samburu, you will have an early morning game drive, providing one last opportunity to see the reserve’s wildlife in action. Afterward, you will return to the lodge for breakfast before checking out.
As you leave Samburu, you will enjoy an en-route game drive, taking in the last glimpses of the stunning landscapes. The return journey to Nairobi will take you through the scenic countryside, with an optional stop for lunch in Nanyuki. Upon arrival in Nairobi, you will be dropped off at your hotel or preferred location, concluding your unforgettable Samburu safari.
