This tour is for visitors who finds themselves in Nairobi with very limited time yet they want to visit some destinations and enjoy activities such as game drives, walks, cycling, boat rides and more. Visiting Hellsgate National Park is ideal owing to two major factors, Close proximity to Nairobi and host to many activities.
Hellsgate National Park is a unique park characterized by diverse topography and geological scenery. Characterized by its intense geothermal activity within its boundaries, Hellsgate is a remarkable quarter in the Rift Valley. Spectacular scenery including the towering cliffs, water-gouged gorges, stark rock towers, scrub clad volcanoes and belching plumes of geothermal steam make it one of the most atmospheric Parks in Africa. It is safe to explore by foot and by bicycle. The big cats like the lions, leopard and cheetahs are not present here so is the elephant. You can cycle to your heart's content past grazing zebras, giraffes, impalas and buffaloes, spot rock hyraxes as they clamber up inclines and chase dust clouds as they swirl in the wind. And if the pedaling isn't enough exercise, hike the gorge or climb Fischer's Tower.
Time : 6:00 am
Day ProgramLeave Nairobi at 6.00 AM and drive to Hells gate National Park. Hellsgate is approximately 125 KM from the city (2 hrs, 3o minutes) drive from the city. Arrive by 9 and start our activities of the day. You can choose to cycle in the park, take a walk or do a game drive en route to the gorges. Along the way you will come across zebras, buffalos, giraffes, warthogs, gazelles and many more animals present at this park. For those who would wish to climb rocks you can attempt to conquer the Fishers tower. After a visit to the gorges drive to the Ol Karia Natural Hot Water Spa. Here we have our lunch. We then take on to the Natural Hot water Spa. All the pools are made entirely out of steel trowelled concrete (the water here has natural minerals and cannot allow for the use of ceramic tiles). There are 4 steps all round to allow the people to sit down and bask in the warm water. These ponds receive geothermal water or brine, collected through a system of lagged pipes from various wells within the Olkaria Geothermal field. This is definitely what your body needs after the walk and the cycling. If times allows we will then exit the park through the Olkaria Gate and drive to Lake Naivasha where our adventure continues. Here you can embark on a boat ride in lake Naivasha. Enjoy scenic views that sorounds the lake. Watch animals and birds from your boat. The guide will take you on a mission to spot hippos at the lake and back. We shall then leave for Nairobi arriving in the evening. Drop off at the airport or the hotel.
